Anchor Brewing CompanyGo West! This beer's name takes us back to the time of the gold rush in California, where thousands of prospectors headed west to “see the elephant”. This metaphor alluded to the perilous nature of such an endeavour: once they had become rich, they could claim to have seen the beast from "trunk to tail", a full encounter with a rare species and a unique adventure. Anchor Go West IPA is an American witbier in India Pale Ale style, brewed by Anchor Brewing Company. Through the clear, golden packaging, elephant and evocative title, the brewery makes an overt reference to the gold rush in California, inviting customers to join them on this unique and enriching quest. Anchor Go West IPA is brewed with two malts and a unique blend of four American hops, giving it a lovely golden shimmering colour and clear brown head.It combines complex aromas of citrus, pine, exotic fruit, and caramel. Our impression as we first sip this beer is of a moderate bitterness, followed shortly after by slightly sweet notes of malt, giving it a light body and smooth finish. Its taste is tropical, combined with citrus fruit in a fresh, piny ensemble. This freshness and sweetness leave us wanting more!Product #: 85965stars, based on 2 reviewsRegular price: 2.492.49Available from: Saveur BièreCondition: New productsin stock

Anchor Brewing Company Every sailor crossing the bay of San Francisco in the fog is glad of the foghorn. And likewise, every beer fan will be glad of this Anchor Old Foghorn which was ranked the top barley wine from small American breweries in 1975. It has remained number one ever since, thanks to the use of premium quality ingredients. Brewed by the Anchor brewery, their Old Foghorn beer uses top-fermentation yeast, whole hops and FWH. Old Foghorn beer is produced using classic brewing methods, then laid down in the brewery's cellars until it reaches the perfect balance between a gentle maltiness and fruitiness, and its exquisite hoppy character, which has made it famous throughout the world. This is a barley wine-type Ale Beer with a creamy head. The body is ample, thick for a complex and even subtle beer. The nose is hoppy and caramelised with hints of citrus fruits and its alcoholic sweetness is reminiscent of its American roots, typical of American Barley Wines. The palate is very fruity (touches of citrus fruit and apricot) with a thick texture. Sweet hints of caramel counterbalance the hops and their citrus notes. There is some bitterness, just enough to counteract the sweetness of the malt and fruits. The finish itself is very dry. These beers have a very long shelf life and can be kept in the bottle for over a decade. They have a depth of delicious flavours that makes them ideal to serve as an after-dinner drink. This is a version of the classic British Barley Wine. The bitterness on the palate of this American beer is enhanced by adding more hops than would be used in Britain. Anchor Brewing CompanyThe Anchor Bock is the spring beer from the brewery Anchor, located in San Francisco. It is a small craft brewery which still uses today brewing equipment from the gold rush. The preparation of the beer is hand-made and combines modern methods and the traditional processes that made this brewery famous. Let’s take a look on this Anchor Bock Beer. Why “Bock” would you ask me? Bock is an old type of beer that is named after Einbeck, a city in Bayern (Germany). Traditionally, a goat appears on the labels of these bockbiers. Several reasons explain why this goat appears: bock could mean “billy goat” in German. The second reason lies in the fact that when days lengthen and that the Capricorn month starts, brewers are getting to work and prepare Bocks for the upcoming spring. Over the years, the term Bock evolved and now means a relatively dark and strong beer rather than a beer regularly brewed by the brewer. The Anchor Bock Beer is brewed from a complex blend malts and entire cones of hops. The malts used are the 2-row pale Munich, which is rather seen as basic type of malt, the Caramel and the Chocolat, which provide the beer with its cacao taste and this dark color and wheat malt, as a reference to German Beers. Two strains of hop are used in this beer: the Glacier, offering to the beer its notes of citrus fruit and fruit and hints of herbs and wood. Bitterness can be noticed but is not predominant. The second hop used is the Nugget, which features very strong bitterness, two or even three times more than the Glacier. The Anchor Bock pours a dark colour with mahogany glints and is topped by a brown head, quite rich but rather short lasting. The aromas are sweet with basic herbaceous notes but also caramelized, black fruit and chocolate notes. The flavours featured are raisins, black fruit and chocolate. The finish is grilled and roasted with an aftertaste of malt and hazelnuts. The first moment of the tasting is lightly bitter and sour, and then it gets sweeter and releases all the flavours and aromas after a few sips. This beer represents what’s best to enjoy just before sun shines again, it is probably one of the best Bocks in the world. Product #: 2130stars, based on reviewsRegular price: 33Available from: Saveur BièreCondition: New productsin stock
