Brasserie Akerbeltz In Basque mythology, Aker is an evil divinity represented by a goat. This is clearly where the Brasserie Akerbeltz found the inspiration for its image. Creator of several typically Basque beers, including Iluna, a gutsy brown ale topped with a beige head with aromas of roasted malt, chocolate and coffee. The palate has flavours of coffee, caramel, chocolate, roasted malt and fruit. With an oily texture, it finishes on a dry, toasted note. Brasserie AkerbeltzBrewed in the heart of the French Basque country by the fiercely proud Akerbeltz, Megabeltz is a Black Tripel that blends the best of the brewery’s Iluna Brune, and Tripel beers in a beast of a beer packed with mocha coffee and spicy, herbal hops notes that give this brew its unique character. Set in a neatly carbonated, appropriately generous body with an equally generous 7% ABV the overall effect is a pleasingly rich mouthful of classic malts and hops.

Brasserie AkerbeltzBrewed to 8%, IEPA by Brasserie Akerbeltz is a powerful Tripel beer which sums up the Basque region perfectly. Literally translated, Akerbeltz is The Black Goat, a demigod from local mythology with the power to protect.
Pouring yellow-orange with a light, lacy white head, IEPA gives waves of malt, hops, and alcohol scents. The palate is powerful, with floral and fruity notes which, coupled with the malty, hoppy background make for a well-balanced ensemble. The medium body, satin texture, and medium carbonation lead into a dry, lightly bitter finish.
