The Franziskaner Dunkel Hefe-Weisse is the dark version of the Franziskaner Hefe-Weiss, a German wheat beer which enjoys a solid reputation accross Germany and beyond.
This beer is dark because of the great quantity of malt used for the brewing process. It is the only difference with the original recipe. One will find in this beer the same attributes as its little wit sister, with powerful and fruity aromas of ester and wheat reminiscent of banana along with spicy scents evocative of cloves and yeast.
In the mouth, it features flavors of regular wheat with fruity and spicy flavors of banana and cloves along with malty taste of caramel. Light bitterness develops on the palate in the end of the tasting. The Franziskaner is named after a monastery located in front of the brewery. This beer is ideally poured in its Franziskaner Weissbier Beer Glass!
