Goose Island marks the brewing revival that has taken place in the American Midwest since 1988 with original creations, including Sofie, a seasonal beer aged in wine barrels named after the founder's granddaughter.
Originally brewed by Belgian farmers, this beer is pale yellow and cloudy, topped with a very thin white head, and has aromas of spice, orange, yeast and lemon.
Its spicy flavours on the palate include white pepper, contrasting with the acidity of citrus fruit. Following on from white wine, yeasts and hops, the tasting ends with notes of vanilla, making for a very refreshing whole.
