This EKU 28, also named Kulminator is a Strong Ale from Bavaria brewed by Kulmbacher Brauerei. Long considered as the cradle of the German beers, the little town of Kulmbach were called the « Capital of the beer »!
Before the decline of its brewing businesses, it was one of the greatest brewing communities. The latter was forced to come together on one big brewery group that became the Kulmbacher Brauerei that is in fact a group of 5 breweries of the town. EKU brewery was one of them, and even if its range of beers was reduced, it still offers exceptional beers brewed with passion and a centuries-old Bavarian knowhow! The name « EKU » is in fact the initiales of the former brewery «Erste Kulmbacher Actienbrauerei».
EKU Kulminator is a special beer brewed with more malt than other beers to contain 11% of alcohol! This dosage of malt is essential to the yeast to create enough sugar to make alcohol. This German beer has a magnificent reddish brown robe topped by a fine beige head. With the nose, you will find aromas of malt, caramel, candied fruits and notes of liquorish but also hints of spices. In the mouth you will find liquorish notes and flavours of candied fruits and caramel. In the finish, you will find a slight alcohol note and mild bitterness.
