To qualify as Trappist a beer must be brewed under strict supervision by Trappist monks, and respect certain criteria defined by the International Trappist Association. Only under these conditions can a bottle proudly wear the Authentic Trappist Product label. Zundert by the Maria-Toevlucht Abbey is one of only eleven Trappist beers, and one of only two produced in the Netherlands. Pouring hazy amber with a thick off-white head, Trappist Zundert is full of malt, toffee, yeast, and fruit scents, which translate seamlessly to the palate, to be joined by floral, fruity flourishes, and a pleasing bitterness.
With its medium body and light carbonation, this velvety beer provides a deliciously crisp, bitter finish.
