The Kasteel Bruin is a dark traditional beer from the Belgian Brewery Van Honsebrouck. It is today one of the greatest classics among Belgian dark and top-fermented beers. Its excellent taste has made it a worldwide renowned beer.
The Kasteel Bruin pours a brown-dark colour relatively opaque and topped by a fine, rich and long-lasting beige head.
Sweet and malty aromas of plum, raisins, caramel, candy sugar and roasted malts can be identified. One can feel a sweet and light sensation in the mouth. Indeed, it features flavours of caramel, black fruit such as plum, honey and moka on the palate while alcohol plays a low-profile despite the high ABV of 11%.
The whole appears winy, slightly acidic, one could feel like he'd be drinking wine and porto. The hops provide the beer with light bitterness, especially in the aftertaste.
The Kasteel Bruin is also called Bière du Château brune (Beer of the Dark Castle). It can be aged for a few years like indicated on the label. When pouring, we suggest that you serve it in a single go by holding the glass vertically.
