Westbrook Brewing Company initially brewed Mexican Cake in 2012 to celebrate its first year as a microbrewery. But it was so delicious that it decided to brew it every year for the drinking pleasure of discerning beer lovers everywhere.
This heavyweight Imperial Stout pours a mocha black with a massive, lasting brown head. It is aged on cocoa nibs, vanilla beans, cinnamon sticks and fresh habanero peppers.
The aroma has a solid malt base with overlapping layers of cocoa, vanilla and cinnamon reminiscent of a spiced chocolate cake.
Sweet flavours predominate in the tasting with chocolate, coffee, roasted malt, caramel, alcohol and vanilla spiced up with peppers and cinnamon in an exquisite balance leading to a dry and spicy finish.
Sweet with a hint of fire, it will leave you wanting more!
