Liefmans Goudenband is a monument to Belgian beer.
Brown in colour with red undertones and a beige head, it is brewed in open vats using mixed fermentation and then matured for four to twelve months in the cellar, giving it an irresistible aroma of red berries, rhubarb and fruit tart.
Flavours of stewed fruit are wrapped in a voluptuous, smooth body that nicely balances the acidity brought by the wild yeast.
Left to mature for a few months, this Liefmans really comes into its own.
